Poem to Stretch
By Kesia
Stretchy he was long and lanky,
And sometimes he was very cranky.
His head was full of bears and tigers,
Crocodiles and great big spiders.
He always had his walkman on,
And sometimes he would sing-a-long.
Jimmy’s was his Mum and Dad,
They told him off when he was bad.
Jimmy’s Night Shelter was his home,
He was happy there and not alone.
Now he’s an angel in heaven up high,
It’s sad that I didn’t get to say goodbye.
Rest in Peace
True Story
I moved from Gloucester
to Bristol. It was a quick decision. I enjoyed it so much that I fell in
love with it. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the people, some were old some
were young, middle class. Good stuff people as well. And a secretary and
a banker. After a few months being there I started to meet a person, had
loads of videos I could watch. I lived in a room down the bottom of the
stairs. Had a video and a TV. The video was for videos only; you
couldn’t tape anything else. But I wasn’t bothered at all. I met a large
amount of people and I was one of the lads.
I started to smoke cannabis a lot, day in day out all day.
I started to get into heroin at the time, it was Turkish Brown. At the
time I enjoyed it so much, having it in the morning and night. And when
I left my mates at about 2-3am, I would walk around for an hour looking
at shops. It was cold every morning at about 3-4am. But I was hot.
Sometimes I would Chase the Dragon, or inject in my arms – or legs; I
was on it for 6 months or so. But I got addicted to it!
After about 4 months or more I was paying back the dealer, the more I
was paying back, the more he was adding in interest. So I paid back and
2 months after I got onto a mate staying in the same hostel. He was OK
and had decided to move to Cambridge. When I got there (Cambridge) I saw
a festival in the park that was on Saturday, the fair was there as well.
The only thing I’m not sure of was, did I enter a shelter when I arrived
in Cambridge?
